Fate of a Nation Saturdays!

Back when we thought things might be back to normal... Two Saturdays in a row we played Fate of a Nation, ending on the 4th of July weekend. Both games were a lot of fun!

First Paul, Wayne, Eric, and John fought for control of a small town and crossroads during the Six Day War.....

The Egyptians easily grab the objective by the train tracks
in the first turn, as the Israelis try to sweep through the town.

Positioned on ridges outside town,
the Israelis begin taking out Egyptian vehicles.

While a vicious fight takes place at close quarters in the town,
Israeli air tries to clear the second objective on the hills beyond
the town and reinforcements head for it.

Having eliminated the Egyptian tank destroyers,
the Israeli armor moves towards the objective.

Town streets fill with burning vehicles as the APCs and
half-tracks duke it out in the tiny streets. Meanwhile,
Egyptian and Israeli infantry engage
in vicious house to house fighting.

Eric ponders the inability of his reinforcements to take
the second objective.

Egyptian reinforcements mass just outside the town.

Israeli armor lines up on the train tracks,
facing off with Egyptian reinforcements as the battle come
down to the train track objective.

In the end, the Egyptians held the objective,
winning the day.

Then, Paul, Ren, Wayne, and Eric fought the Battle of Abu-Ageila in June, 1967. Specifically, the Israeli assault on the third line of trenches at Um-Katef. Wayne and Eric ran the Israelis while Paul and Ren defended with the Egyptians. The attack took place at night, so the defenders had difficulty seeing the enemy to shoot at them. (many thanks to Eric for the pics)

Wayne's Israeli half-tracks head for Ren's Egyptian trenches.

Eric's Israeli tanks charge Ren's trenches.

Ren's Egyptian infantry holds their trench.

Wayne's Israelis charge the trench gap...

Ren contemplates his infantry as they hole up in the trenches.

While the Israeli armor destroys his armored reserves,
Ren's infantry face their final assault as the
Israeli's win the day. :)

SAG in 2019

We had a pretty good year, though I didn't manage to post as many blog entries for the club as I had planned. Hopefully I'll manage better next year.

We played a great deal of L'Art de la Guerre, Saga, Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game, Frostgrave, Napoleon at War, Test of Honor, Age of Sigmar, Necromunda, and Bataille Empire.  We also tried Cruel Seas and Black Seas.  We even managed to play a little Flames of War and some Team Yankee, as well as true 'old school' games like TSR's Battlesystem and Space: 1889 Soldier's Companion. Our associated club, YHP Bolt Action, played a great deal of Bolt Action and Konflict '47.

Our roleplaying group completed the Saltmarsh saga for AD&D 2nd edition, culminating with  a huge Battlesystem battle over the town of Saltmarsh.  Right after we finished that campaign, Wizards of the Coast published Ghosts of Saltmarsh, which kinda figures.

We finished up the year prepping for a new escalation campaign, for Kings of War 3rd edition, which we are starting in January. We started a L'Art de la Guerre campaign, Ad Imperii, which you will see more of on the blog as each turn results will be shared here.

Hopefully, we'll do better on putting up blog entries this year. I especially want to do some highlight specific club members armies, many of our club members are outstanding painters and this is the perfect place to showcase their work.

Below are some pictures from our 2019 games!

Fate of the Nation, L'Art de la Guerre, Kill Team, Shadespire, and Blood Bowl

On the last Friday in February we had a good turn out of players and a lot of different games!

John played Isrealis versus Wayne's Egyptians in a game of Fate of a Nation.

John's Isrealis won the day versus Wayne's Egyptian armor.

We had a lot of L'Art de la Guerre games, I converted my first De Bellis Antiquatatis army, Alexandrian Macedonians, into an ADLG army, (list #39). I first played against Eric's Later Achaemenid Persians (#68).  It was a fun game, but Eric had my number early.

Meanwhile, Chuck played Jake in an introductory game, they both played Middle Imperial Roman lists (#85), fighting out one of the many Roman versus Roman encounters.

It was a hard fought battle but Legatus Chuck pulled the win.

Ken's Selucids (#42) took on Doc's Alexandrian Macedonians (#39), Ken took the win.

Then we switched up opponents.

My Alexandrian Macedonians (#39) took on Ken's Selucids (#42), and lost handily.

At the same time, Eric's Later Achaemenid Persians (#68) fought Doc's Alexandrian Macedonians (#39) to a draw.

At the same time, Matt's Chaos Cultists beat Chris' Orks in a Kill Team Arena game.

The Matt's Khorne Cultists beat Chris' Orks in a game of Shadespire.

And they finished up with a game of Blood Bowl, Orks versus Ogres.
