Fate of a Nation Saturdays!

Back when we thought things might be back to normal... Two Saturdays in a row we played Fate of a Nation, ending on the 4th of July weekend. Both games were a lot of fun!

First Paul, Wayne, Eric, and John fought for control of a small town and crossroads during the Six Day War.....

The Egyptians easily grab the objective by the train tracks
in the first turn, as the Israelis try to sweep through the town.

Positioned on ridges outside town,
the Israelis begin taking out Egyptian vehicles.

While a vicious fight takes place at close quarters in the town,
Israeli air tries to clear the second objective on the hills beyond
the town and reinforcements head for it.

Having eliminated the Egyptian tank destroyers,
the Israeli armor moves towards the objective.

Town streets fill with burning vehicles as the APCs and
half-tracks duke it out in the tiny streets. Meanwhile,
Egyptian and Israeli infantry engage
in vicious house to house fighting.

Eric ponders the inability of his reinforcements to take
the second objective.

Egyptian reinforcements mass just outside the town.

Israeli armor lines up on the train tracks,
facing off with Egyptian reinforcements as the battle come
down to the train track objective.

In the end, the Egyptians held the objective,
winning the day.

Then, Paul, Ren, Wayne, and Eric fought the Battle of Abu-Ageila in June, 1967. Specifically, the Israeli assault on the third line of trenches at Um-Katef. Wayne and Eric ran the Israelis while Paul and Ren defended with the Egyptians. The attack took place at night, so the defenders had difficulty seeing the enemy to shoot at them. (many thanks to Eric for the pics)

Wayne's Israeli half-tracks head for Ren's Egyptian trenches.

Eric's Israeli tanks charge Ren's trenches.

Ren's Egyptian infantry holds their trench.

Wayne's Israelis charge the trench gap...

Ren contemplates his infantry as they hole up in the trenches.

While the Israeli armor destroys his armored reserves,
Ren's infantry face their final assault as the
Israeli's win the day. :)
