The British players came in uniform, of course... |
The YHP Bolt Action Club met at
Your Hobby Place - Fredericksburg in February to play another game in our North Africa
Bolt Action campaign. The scenario was a meeting engagement between British and German armored forces in 1942. The Germans had an 88mm Flak gun, which was fortunate since the British tanks were better armored.
The British players carefully plan their advance. |
It was a hard fought engagement that ended, surprisingly, in a draw, both sides taking hevay casualties and tanks burning all across the desert. Strategically, definitely to the British advantage, since they have a far easier time replacing their losses.
On the British left Flank Eric commanded a mixed force of Indian infantry and artillery supported by cruiser and Matilda tanks, a deadly combination. |
British M3 Honey tanks and a Grant hold the center of the board. |
Aggressively, the remaining Panzer IIs and a German armored car charge into the kill zone of the British tanks and the Indian artillery, a stunningly unwise move. |
The Panzer IIs burn, having paid the price for tactical incompetence on the part of their commander. |
The Indian infantry platoon tried to prove the value of infantry in a tank fight by rushing the
88mm Flak gun, but they were later shot down. |
British and German tanks and armored cars burning on the British right flank, where the 88mm was lucky enough to take out the Sherman early, leading to a bloody slug match between the M3 Honeys and the German panzers. |
